The city of Jackson was established by a Tennessee General Assembly law passed in 1821 that entitles it to establish a seat of justice in Henry, Carroll, Henderson and Madison counties. When the court was founded in 1834, it was a large city in the West and the first of its kind in Tennessee. The city is home to the Jackson Music Hall of Fame, which is known for its service to Tennessee musicians of all genres.
